I recently read a Horror story set in a small Delaware town (An Easter Tale by Austin Crawley) and was struck by how the small town setting contributed to the story plot.

It just wouldn't have been the same in a city, or even a backwoods setting.

The stories going around the small town people and working out what was real and what was superstition really made the plot work.
